1st Annual

Bubba Jacques Shootout Charity Golf Tournament

Bentwater Yacht and Country Club

800 Bentwater Drive, Montgomery, TX 77356

God has a plan for everyone even if it involves tragedies. In the Bible, Jeremiah 29:11 states, “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans of good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Three tragedies led to help start a foundation that can give people a future and hope. Three scholarships have been created through a charity golf event to help with college assistance.

The back story as to why this foundation was created was because of three young lives. Dana Barton-Byrd’s daughter, Tristan drowned in their pool the morning of March 25th, 2016 (Good Friday). Tristan’s passing was very difficult. Tarik Carter’s son, Kameron perished in a car accident on March 1st, 2021. He fought hard for recovery, but God had other plans and took him seven days later. Darrell (Bubba) Jacques’ son, Taylor lost his life due to being shot by an AK-47 Assault Rifle on October 30th, 2019. Taylor’s life had just begun.

What we have learned from these tragedies is that you do not realize what you have until it is gone. Life is precious. As parents, we realized it is important to tell your loved ones every day the importance of being grateful for even the smallest of moments.

Our goal for this foundation is to award three scholarships each year to young adults applying for college. Since we all grew up in Conroe, I know we all want to give back. Your help and donations are vital to continue the growth of the scholarships for our youth.
